“I never felt at home until I moved to the Pacific Northwest.

But we have a massive inclusivity problem.

We need to bring more people into the fold.”

I’m a Midwestern New Yorker who’s lived in Oregon since 2016. I love the Pacific Northwest. My work is as varied as my background. I have dedicated years to beats ranging from the outdoors, fitness/health, business/nonprofits, arts/culture and general human interest. My writing has also appeared in the New York Times, Bend Magazine, and 1859. My syndicated feature stories have appeared in more than 80 publications nationwide, including U.S. News & World Report, The Seattle Times and the Sacramento Bee. And way back when, I interviewed rappers and pro skateboarders for Thrasher magazine when I wasn’t working days as a bicycle messenger in New York City.

I wrapped up the coursework for an M.A. in Journalism from The University of Oregon School of Journalism & Communication in spring, 2021.

I then associate-produced a feature-length documentary about climate-change mitigation with Blue Chalk Media. Later, I worked in the same capacity for a local documentarian, helping him shore up the last pieces of a feature about narwhals. In late 2023, I worked as a researcher (also appearing as a subject) on a documentary about the history of Vice Magazine, funded by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

In addition to English, I speak, report and write in Spanish.

My other projects have included oral histories with Manhattan’s houseless and drug dealers (Dealers was published in book form by powerHouse Books in 2013).
